Recently, I've been thinking about the younger generation and all the positive energy and commitment they have collectively demonstrated in the pursuit of justice. I realized that what I am witnessing is bravery. I also noticed the more comfortable we have become, the more we are less willing to step out and be brave. Sometimes real change can only come from acts of courage.
After months of stay-at-home orders, most of us have had time to assess what is working or not working in our homes. We have also reconciled what we are tolerating in our personal spaces. There lies the opportunity. We can settle on the temporary solution of doing nothing or step outside of our comfort zone and welcome real change.
I reflect on my life and business with a smile, knowing that my joyful feelings are a result of getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. I have kept a commitment to myself to be courageous in my pursuits of what makes me happy. It has not always been easy. Not moving forward or denying myself the chance of having what I want in my life would be much easier. I know that any short-term comfort I would feel from ignoring my desires is just temporary.
If you want to truly surround yourself with the beauty that reflects and supports you, then you have got to allow it to come. That may feel uncomfortable but totally rewarding.
When was the last time you allowed yourself to shut out all the noise and just fantasize about your dream home? I encourage everyone to dream bigger, to think bigger, to want more, and to step out and demand of yourself to be brave.
